The Long View
Don’t mistake runway periods in your life for the entrance to your work.
It’s only in looking back on the distinct stages of our life can we realize that it’s not that the earlier roads in our life were failed, it’s just that that road was a first chapter needing the after chapter that we’re in now to make sense.
What story helps us to do is connect the disparate parts of our lives by recognizing them as chapters in a much larger symphony of becoming.
This is true in our lives and the lives of organizations. We need a long view. If we mistakenly judge the crises of the moment that we’re in as failure, and stop there, we’ll miss the larger epic meaning of hero’s journey we’re living out.
